How to Clear Airport Security Biometrically

By Brent Neenan

Flying can be a necessity of life for some people. Some people might go there whole lives without finding many reasons to fly, and so there experiences with the whole world of airports, planes, and what it takes to clear airport security is limited. For others though it might be a way of life. Whether it be for business or pleasure those who do make it a way of life also are forced to live with the hassle of bypassing the overtop security each time. With such time consuming processes people are always looking to streamline procedures for maximum efficiency and so Clear Me was born.

The concept of Clear Me was first created after the security tightening as a result of 9/11. It was supposed to be a way to cut down the drastic wait times on security lines at participating airports. The service was able to amass over 200,000 customers but went bankrupt regardless in 2009. Since that time though there has been a drive to put Clear Me back into action in the years to come.

What is this idea though and how does Clear Me work? In short by paying a nearly $200 dollar annual fee you're given the privilege of cutting through the first section of security check points at participating airports. This is achieved by submitting several points of personal information to Clear Me for identification purposes. In order to qualify one must offer up several government issued IDs, complete and pass a Lexus Nexus background check and satisfy an iris and fingerprint scan. Once all points are met you're then issued your own biometric ID card and are given authority to pass through the first layer of security with ease.

People still argue on the relevancy of a service such as Clear Me. Those who don't fly frequent enough will see it as utterly useless to pay an annual fee for a service they'll use handful of times at most. Some other people might not see it worth shaving off only 20-30 minutes from total wait time and getting through merely one layer of security. Yet for even more people that; 20-30 minutes could make all the difference in the world and Clear Me is precisely what they are looking for.

The next time you witness yourself stuck in line waiting to go through a naked scanner for hours on end just; think about getting yourself a biometric ID. Clear Me is an ingenious idea that has the possibility of become the future of what flying is.
