Send Your Child Public School Or Private School?

By Karina Andrews

The majority of parents are concerned when it comes to the well-being of their children. One of those concerns pertains to their children's education. We all want to be sure that our child is receiving the best possible education. Our kids need every conceivable advantage to stand them in good stead for the future. In order for your child to succeed, he/she will need a quality education.

The Big Question - Private Versus Public Schools, Which Is Better?

The majority of children find themselves in the public school system, but more and more parents are choosing to send their children to private schools. Christian schools (also called parochial schools), fall in the private category. Many are enrolled because the parents choose what is familiar to them. This means that they choose schools that are in line with what they believe. There is nothing wrong with this, but not all private schools are the same.

The fact is that, whether your child attends a private or a public school, they can still succeed, as many students do. The fact that many employ dedicated people has a lot to do with it. Part of deciding which of the Christian schools to send your child to will entail weighing the advantages that each offers. For many families the cost of tuition is one of the most important factors to consider.

It is no secret that there are many parents who would prefer that their child attend a private rather than a public school. Nevertheless, the high cost of tuition is often the reason why many children end up not getting a private school education. Parents shouldn't be discouraged by the cost, however. Most schools that are private also provide financial advice and aid. For instance, they might offer discounted tuition fees if the parent is prepared to do their part when it comes to functions, like fundraisers, for example. Churches affiliated to Christian schools, such as would be the case with Catholic schools, also provide financial assistance.

Of course, your reasons for enrolling your child in a private school could include the fact that he or she has special needs. Kids with special needs tend to do much better within a private school's educational environment than in the public school system. The reason for this has much to do with the lower student-teacher ratio found in private schools. Naturally this means that a teacher is able to spend more time with their students on a one-to-one basis.

Of course there are other great reasons for choosing private schooling, such as the fact that these christian schools act as stepping-stones to some of the best colleges in the country. It is also important to let your child voice their opinions about which school they attend. Find out what their opinions are as well. Consider all your options and you will find the ideal school. Remember, there is a lot of stiff competition for your child to deal with by the time they've completed their education. You can help to stand them in good stead by ensuring they get the best possible education.
