Look Out For Loved Ones With Voice Activated Products For Seniors

By Erica Holms

It is a big deal for seniors to live at home by themselves. If your loved one is living at home alone, you most likely worry about their safety. A way you can remedy this problem is by using the many voice activated products available these days. They help keep seniors safe because all they have to do is speak for something to work. You no longer have to worry about your loved one falling and not being able to get to the phone. Along with keeping them safe, they also can make the life easier for the care giver.

Many of the available senior products were created to help with communication. Seniors with arthritis may find it difficult to push the numbers keys on a standard telephone. A voice activated unit does not require the user to touch it at all. After the most used numbers are programmed into the phone, a simple voice command will prompt the phone to dial the number and make the call. There is no need to worry about remembering important numbers or reading them out of a phone book. A similar mechanism is used by specially designed answering machines. The user can tell the machine to store, delete or play messages on command. Most of these machines are also able to give the time when asked.

Senior electronics are available for many different needs. A voice activated alarm clock will take commands verbally. Users are able to set the time or the alarm by talking to the clock. This product eliminates the need to mess around with small buttons and making sure the time is set exactly right if the display is difficult to read. The clock does all the work. These items can bring peace of mind to family members who worry about seniors living alone.

Senior talking products provide many benefits to the people who use them. Seniors fear losing their freedom but with voice activated devices, they can stop worrying about living alone. If someone falls down and cannot get back up, they can direct the phone to call for help no matter where they are in the room. Most of these devices are simple to use and anyone can quickly learn how they work. The senior does not have to automatically seek out an assisted living situation and everyone will feel more secure knowing that help is just a call away if anything bad ever happens.

There are so many senior aids and products available. Today's technology does allow you to keep your loved one safe and allows the senior in your life to keep their freedom as well.
