What Determines The DS3 Pricing

By Gwen Lowe

DS3s are circuits with very high bandwidth fiber that are transmitted at 45 Mbps for use in businesses. At each payload, these signals are able to transport DS1 level signals and 672 DS0 level channels. The speed at which these signals move allow businesses to run their electronic data interchanging, video communication, network expansion, data aggregation and videoconferencing campaigns with ease. People should know various things that affect DS3 pricing in order to get the best deals.

One main factor that affects the cost of these services is the operation cost of the carrier. Since different carriers have different fiber circuits and circuit backbones, their operation costs vary greatly. As such, you would need to know the cost at which the carriers of the potential company operate to avoid hiring companies that charge more than your budget.

Another common factor that determines the cost is the distance between the network fiber paths of the service provider and your premises. It is common that if your premises are located far from the fiber paths, more wires would be needed to complete the interconnection. The more the cables needed the more the cost since any additional cable would mean an added cost.

The type and quality of cables used also have a significant impact on the price of such services. Different interconnection cables would have different specifications especially in the insulation ability, conduction capacity and the distance limitation. This means a variation in the performance and quality of different wires, which also affects their cost.

In order to guarantee the long-term performance of your unit, you would need to monitor and maintain it well. However, if you do not have the right information pertaining to this system you may not be able to maintain it well. This means you would need the services of a professional, which can also mean an increased cost for these services.

The mechanism used by your service provider to supply such signals would also affect the cost significantly. For instance, if your premise is located in a remote area where interconnection cables cannot be installed, these signals would be sent using the satellite technology. Therefore, if even you would not pay for the installation service, you would have to pay more on the operation costs.

Your landline phone number and the address line can also have some significant effect on the cost of these services. If your address line is new to the system, you may have to pay more. As well, there are various phone numbers that are charged more than others hence the cost would also depend on the type of landline phone number you have.

If you decide to use these services, it is advisable to hire a trustworthy service provider. This is in the effect that not all companies can offer quality services. To know whether your potential service provider is reliable, you would need to read their customer reviews to know what their previous customers say about them. You would also need to determine whether the charges for their services are in line with the ones offered by other companies.
