Public School Funding Programs Can Help Fix Educational Setbacks

By Wanda Vaughn

Naturally, parents want their children to be given the best education possible. However, in order to ensure that all children are given the chance to obtain the best education they can, certain issues need to be taken into consideration. One of these issues is the need for public school funding.

A lot of modern everyday working adults will send their children to public schools. They feel that doing so, will provide their child with the learning fundamentals that they need in order to live a better life. However, one thing that a lot of parents do not realize is that children are not being given the type of educational experience that they deserve.

Students that attend these types of learning facilities are being short changed. They are not being given the proper education that parents want their children to have. For many years, schools located in wealthy neighborhoods have had an advantage over schools that are located in poor neighborhoods.

The wealthier schools are being given the materials that they need to adequately prepare students for life. These students are not being forced to learn the curriculum in crowded classrooms, where the teacher to student ratio makes it impossible for the students to be given one-on-one attention. The students are not being forced to learn practicalities of today from outdated textbooks.

There is a sense of urgency being expressed by the government to close the gaps that exist within the educational systems. Students who were born into affluent households should not be given precedence over students who were born to regular hardworking families, or poor families. The future of the present generation, needs to have the same tools as everyone else, in order to succeed in this economically challenging world.

The government has tried many different reform tactics to better the schools located in low income areas. There have been laws passed about how many students are allowed in one classroom at a time. The No Child Left Behind Law states that no child should be thrown aside due to economic, learning, or social issues that they experience.

But the truth is that students are being left behind. They are being victims of circumstance. The public continuously opposes putting more money into state funded programs, in fears, that this will increase the amount of taxes that are coming out of their paychecks. However, if something is not done, then the lives of our children will be put into jeopardy. It is important to remember that circumstance does not reflect what our children are going to do with their lives.

The public has been asked on numerous occasions to help with the issues that low income schools are experiencing. Public school funding programs can change the way that these children are being taught. However, with fears of their taxes increasing, a lot of adults are slow to react to this pressing issue.
