How Cylinder Valves Function Appropriately

By Cornelia White

The braking systems of most cars we drive on are controlled by the regulators which control the braking fluid. So care should be taken when buying or replacing one since the braking systems can lead to a very serious accident if they turn out to be faulty. These cylinder valves are essential.

The regulator used in our homes is used to control the gas we cook with from the supply pipes. When buying one you need to be very careful since a leakage in it can lead to a very serious fire. That way, care must be exercised.

The braking system consists of a master valve containing various types of regulators. The combination regulator if found in cars having front disk brakes and rear drum brakes. It carries out the activity of other three regulators namely pressure differential regulator, metering regulator and proportioning regulator. The combination regulator also has the task of informing the driver if there is a problem with the braking system.

This drum brake is usually supposed to engage just before the disk brake. The metering valve is responsible for controlling this. It does not allow any pressure to enter into these disk brakes until the threshold pressure has being reached.

Having the rear drums engage before the front disk helps keep the car on the straight line. Therefore, it improves the stability during braking. This minimizes the chances of crashing or rolling during braking.

The differential pressure device regulator is vital in alerting the driver of any leakage in the brake system. It usually has a specially made piston at the center of the container. Each side of a piston is exposed to pressure which makes it to drop off the side of the exposed part of the piston.

The proportion regulator reduces the amount of pressure on the rear brakes. All cars need little force on rear brakes as compared to the front brakes. It only allows a certain portion of pressure unto the rear wheels so that it does not equalize or exceed that of the front brakes. Gas regulators used in homes control the amount of gas from the cylinders or the gas pipes. That is in case of piped gas which is subjected to very high pressure. It reduces the pressure to a favorable level.

The other types of regulators are used in our homes to control gas leaving the cylinders or the supply pipes. Gas in these cylinders is always subjecting to a very high pressure. Thus, the role of the regulator is to reduce the amount of gas to the level which is favorable to a gas cooker.

These cylinder valves use spring regulators. They normalize the amount of gas flowing by sensing the amount of gas downstream and adjusting its spring accordingly. Hence, they allow the gas to flow constantly.
