Searching for a Fascinating Bail Bonds Company

By Tonjhak Ivelhzr

Bail bond companies were established to provide a stress-free and quick release from jail while the accused is waiting for a decision on the charges against him. However, not all companies are trustworthy because some will try to take advantage knowing that their client is in a tough situation. And this is why it is very important to consider multiple factors in looking for company to ask help from.

Depending on the severity of the case and the criminal history of an accused, he can actually be released from jail without posting bail. But if the request for release on own recognizance is denied by the judge, the accused will really need to post bail in exchange for his release. And for those who cannot afford to post cash bail, a bond company will come to their rescue.

Instead of paying the full amount in cash as bail, the defendant will only need to pay a portion of the bail amount by asking assistance from an Oklahoma City bail bonds company. The bondsman from the company will write a surety bond or an agreement between the company and the court that the bondsman will make sure that the accused will not flee. In exchange for the service, the company will ask for a bond premium that is usually 10% of the total amount of bail.

The first thing to consider in choosing a bail company is the current status of the company and if they are allowed to do business in the state. The bondsman of each company should also be licensed and recognized by the state. Dealing with well-experienced bondsmen is also a plus factor because they are capable of writing larger bonds and could arrange a quicker release.

Before agreeing to the terms offered by the company, it also necessary to make sure that the company has different financing and payment methods. Companies are not allowed to ask for extra fees and interest aside from the bond premium. Companies that accept credit card payments are also desirable because it will eliminate some delaying factors along the way.

Companies that require collateral such as properties should not be prioritized because it is too risky. The amount of properties to be used as collateral is usually 150% of the bail amount. If the accused violates any terms of release that would lead to bond forfeiture will allow the company to foreclose the properties.

And last but not the least, deal with companies that are available anytime of the day and even during weekends or holidays. This is necessary because an arrest happens at an unexpected time and spending a long period of time inside a detention cell is really punishing.
