Spiritual Growth Is Necessary For Wellbeing

By Jerry King

The body does not exist in a vacuum. It depends on one's spirit and the mind. This trinity brings the fullness of a human being. Thus, spiritual growth is a matter of paramount importance. It is through spirituality that life becomes meaningful and purposeful. What one sees, touches, smells and hears is pure vanity. The things that are unseen and untouchable are the ones that matter most. Such are found in the spirituality realm. People have varied spiritual perspectives. One may think that the spiritual relates to things far above the sky. Another person may have an inward perspective.

Spiritual food is just as important as the normal food. A person's spirit deserves nourishment but few individuals do these. All that most people are concerned with is beautifying their bodies and satisfying their stomachs. Yet, the body and the stomach will be destroyed and the spirit will remain. Being beautiful and eating right have their place in wellness. However, one should not forget the need for spiritual nourishment.

Most people have abandoned their spirits. They do not care about spirit welfare. Some individuals do not know that they have a spirit. That is why happiness is becoming an elusive thing. One can search all his life for something that he does not understand. That search for something elusive ends once a person makes a spirit connection. Prayers will help.

Life is not without its share of mystery. There are things that demand answers. One may think that he knows when the reality is that he is woefully ignorant. Understanding starts at the spirit level. The spirit helps a person to comprehend things that are beyond human understanding. Reasoning spiritually helps to unlock answers to very perplexing issues of life.

Seeing through spiritual eyes helps. There are things that the physical eyes cannot see. They require the involvement of the soul. Human ability becomes severely limited if the spirit is not involved. Religion helps to answer spirit related questions. Many have embraced religion for spirituality reasons. It does not mean that a non-religious person has complete disregard for the spirit side.

The three major religions of the world emphasize spirituality. These are Christianity, Islam and Judaism. This is because of the belief in a Higher Being who is omnipresent and controls all the affairs of the world. There are many other religions apart from these. All of them emphasize on the purpose of one's spirit. Religious activity is usually geared towards nurturing an individual's spirit.

Being spiritual is not the preserve of people who subscribe to religious ideology. One can decide to grow spiritually even if he is a non-believer. This will have many benefits. This growth involves taking a deep look inside oneself. It more about the inside than the outside. No one else can see the spirit of another person. People only see the physical.

There are three human realms. The greatest of them all is the spirit. It is the center that controls the mind, emotions and the body. A person should strive to grow spiritually. This will lead to growth in other areas. The body dies and the mind fades away but one's spirit will endure forever. The soul has an everlasting nature.
