Distribution Of Florida Tropical Plants

By Iva Cannon

Different plants normally require different climate for their germination. The climatic needs are usually different from one plant to another. For example some grow in highlands while others in swampy regions. This is due to the fact that different plants are adapted differently to their ecosystem. They have traits that allow them to flourish in some areas and not others. This probes us to look at the Florida tropical plants.

There exists a wide range of species in Florida. Their diversity and distribution is influenced by a number of factors. Variations in topography are some of these factors. This refers to the differences in the surface shape and features of the earth. Different plants require different levels of elevation. This thus affects the distribution of this vegetation in different locations. Others may need a high level while others may require a lower level depending with their adaptations.

Various compositions and types of soils also affect the diversification of various tropical flora. Various species need different soils in order to germinate. For example, some need loam soil while others need silt soil to grow. This implies that the kind of soil available in a given area dictates the types of plants that will flourish there. This is due to the fact that different soils have different mineral levels which are necessary for growth and development.

Geology is also a determinant of distribution for tropical vegetation. It refers to the remains on the surface of the earth that influence the type of plants that grow in certain areas. They are endowed with features to grow and develop there. Variations in decomposition materials causes differences in how diversified the flora is.

Rain is essential towards growth of any tropical requirement. The amount of rain also varies from one region to another. This leads to diversified distribution of the various types of flora. Amount of rainfall required by various flora species vary from one to another. Some flora requires a lot of rain while some just require a little amount of rainfall in order to grow. Therefore vegetation in areas with a high level of rainfall are different from those in areas with little rain.

Seasonality of some plants also affects how they are distributed. Perennial flora shed leaves at different times during the year. The adaptations of this flora are in such a way that they grow at different times of an year. Therefore diversification of these plants is brought about by changes in the seasons for example winter and summer.

Existence of diverse species helps in shaping the natural surroundings of Florida. This is from the existence of shrubs to hardwood and others. However, temperature is also very crucial factor in the distribution of various species. Different flora requires different level of temperatures.

Tropical flora are thus of many species. Some of the species are sold in the market. The customer should thus consider the factors that affect distribution such as climate before buying any of them. This will enable them to obtain flora that will cope easily with the weather of where they reside. Consultation is also important with experts in experts in botany.
