Understanding Cheyenne Arapaho Tribes Educational Charities

By Stella Gay

While there are many different areas in which Native Americans contribute money to charities, one of the most popular is that of education. Take the Cheyenne Arapaho Tribes, or Wiyott which are two offering such programs. Most often these are subsidized through players at various Indian casinos. The Lucky Star and Blue Lake casinos are two which offer this type of support for Native American students.

There are honest leaders of these programs and those which are not so honest. As such, it is often beneficial to read a variety of reviews before making additional donations to same. Of course, when playing at a casino offering funds toward charitable causes, at least a portion of a loss goes for a better cause than when playing in places like Reno or Las Vegas.

Currently, two well known tribes which do have these support networks are the Wiyot tribe in California out of Blue Lake which operates a charitable program out of Blue Lake Casino and that of the Cheyenne Arapaho tribe. A number of similar programs also exist in Arizona at various establishments which are run by different local tribes. Unfortunately, states like Texas and some on the east coast have been slow to accept Indian casinos which equates to a loss of educational support for Native American students living in those areas.

It can often be fun to visit different casinos when on a road trip. Most of these establishments house players clubs in which those whom sign up can receive bonuses, free money and notification of special events. In addition, many offer a regularly scheduled senior day in which seniors can obtain free money, breakfast, lunch or dinner either once or twice a week.

In addition, a number of tribes offer free play which often equates to $10 or $20 dollars. Often half of this free money has been donated to a charity before distributed to members of a players club. For example, if a coupon is worth $10 free play, then most likely $5 dollars has been donated to aid in education and other areas.

Individuals who love to play may want to sign up at each and every players club one encounters whether at home or on the road. For, not only do a number offer free money and other benefits, some offer senior days with drawings and prizes. Whereas, others have been known to offer free meals, drinks or hotel rooms.

While some players may win on this free money, others often lose. As with all casinos, there is never a guarantee of winning. As such, those whom do not have the money to lose may want to avoid using personal funds and strictly focus on playing during times in which these free monies are available.

Ultimately, funds directed toward educational programs are used for a variety of necessities. These donations are greatly appreciated, especially with the lack of funding often provided on a local or state level. While many have federal funding, donations from losses and player club programs definitely help in providing meal programs, medical assistance, head start and other similar programs in different areas of the country.
