Back in the day, operations involving the military and the troops tend to be carried out in a way where everything is done on the ground level. In recent times though, equipment were introduced that do not only allow the troops to fight on the sea, but to fight airborne as well. This is why the presence of the 229th assault helicopter battalion has proved crucial in troops performing their duties more effectively.

These kinds of helicopters are often used in different modes. There are often four common modes in which they are usually used for. The first one has something to do with the standoff approach, this requires the unit to be at a closer range to the friendlies. Since the unit is hovering near the enemies, they are then used as a a missile launcher to protect the ground troops against tanks.
The second mode is where it climbs, approaches, hits, and then runs. Here, the unit climbs and the spots a target. One the target is spotted, it flies towards it. Then, unguarded rockets are fired as well as autocannons. This is done through a limited, forward field fire. This approach does require the heavy hardening of any of the vital components of the unit, as well as the gears of the crew.
Some attack helicopters are used for hover purposes. Here, they will circle high. Afterward, they will proceed to fire shots at the troops of the opposition that are on the ground. An autocannon is often done to carry this out. Though this can be quite effective, it is not likely going to work in the event that the opposition has a really effective and solid air defense.
There are those units that are used to infiltrate. Using the unit's high mobility over really high terrains, it can be used to attack the rear area of the enemy. It will require a more sophisticated troop in order for the tactic to be pulled off though. It needs versatile fire control, appropriate armor, long endurance and versatile armaments.
