Vietnam War Helicopter Books Are Ever Popular

By Toni Vang

Many people love to immerse themselves in a good book whether it is a non-fiction or fiction. It is away to transport oneself into another world away from the pressures of real time. Vietnam War helicopter books are very popular as it is all about the action and drama.

It is shown that if someone is stressed out picking up a book and reading will help to combat that feeling. Findings were concluded that reading for a few minutes actually lowers the heart rate and relaxes the tension in the muscles. Reading also helps to keep the brain in shape; those that don't read tend to have a sharp decline in memory as they begin to get older. It is also an excellent way to improve vocabulary as well as spelling.

Non-fiction is just the opposite and is based on real things. These could include languages, religion, true crime, business as well as history. Many are written about the war in Vietnam which is also known as the Second Indochina War or the Resistance War against America. It began on November the first in nineteen fifty five in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.

The book Chickenhawk was written by Robert Mason about his experiences as a helicopter pilot of the UH-1 Iroquois. This helicopter was made and developed by Bell Helicopter especially for the United States Army in order to evacuate those injured as well as to move utilities. Its first flight was on October the twentieth nineteen fifty-six and there are now over sixteen thousand worldwide.

A movie was made from this and was directed by Randall Wallace. Mel Gibson starred in it as Moore. It is a historical true-life book and was published in October nineteen ninety two. The Vietnamese government did not agree to this movie and the Vietnamese commander portrayed in this movie was condemned as a traitor. He and his family were later allowed to move to the United States of America in 2003.

Many self-help books can actually help one to see themselves from someone else's eyes. These books help to give support where needed and also manage to help that person to rise above their depression and become aware that life is still good. Many with severe depression have benefited from these low intensity interventions.

Robert Mason was convicted of smuggling and was given a five year sentence in a minimum security prison but was fortunately allowed to remain free pending an appeal. He was incarcerated towards the end of August nineteen eight three and was released in May two years later. A few days before he was incarcerated his book was published and it got a glowing review from the New York Times. He was interviewed many times and the book was to be made into a film and directed by John Carpenter, unfortunately it never got that far.

Books that are based on actual experiences add that extra intensity to them bringing the reader to another level. Being transported into someone else's experiences can be very hard, knowing what they went through and how they have to deal with the consequences. Sharing their journey can actually help the reader to realize that their life is not as difficult as they first thought.
