Discover More About The Black American History

By Kristen Baird

It is important for every person to know how they came into existence and why they are where they are. It is because of this you will tend to see people search every where they possibly could to find out their origin. That is why a lot of books have been written about the human origin or human past and scholars have emerged trying to explain this. The most common or well known origin is the black American history.

The history has explained why there is an existence of blacks in a country known to be for the whites and what made them come there. According to scholars the African- American were brought to the United States as slaves. They were captured from their country against their will and brought there. It was said that they were at the mercy of the whites whom they referred to as their masters.

The existence of African-American in the United States was so bad during those days that they were given names such as Negro or colored because of their dark skin and considered as less human beings. Schools were separate that is for the white skinned and dark skinned. The kind of jobs that the dark skinned used to do were considered the lowest and used to earn very little or sometimes they would not even earn. Their freedom was also limited.

This made things bad and the existence of the two became almost impossible. It came to a time where the blacks started to protest to make their voices heard. They wanted to stop being slaves and live equally as the whites. They wanted similar rights and freedom as the whites and they did not stop at anything until they were heard no matter the cost.

The fights and struggle continued until a time came when they came into an agreement through dialogue. Martin Luther, one of the freedom fighters, in nineteen sixty three made a historic speech where he said that the whites and black can exist in the same country peacefully. He said if they stopped fighting and instead take their time to rebuild their nation. His speech changed the life of some people and they started looking at life differently.

Today, the peace that exists in the United States is evident. A black president had been chosen by both the whites and blacks to head them. Both the white skinned and dark skinned work in same offices, go to the same schools and even marry each other. They have helped each other in building the country and in many other situations.

Every February in the United States calendar is the African American month, where the history of the black people is remembered. The names that the dark skinned people were given before to refer to them are no longer used and anyone found using them faces serious problems with the law. Racists also do not have place in the country.

It has been seen that the past helps us knowing and identifying where we come from but it does not determine who we are or what will become, the most important thing is to focus on the future and let the past be.
