By Ji Hitzeman

Parties are type of events enjoyed by so many people. The word party is defined as a small gathering attended by people close to each other like families, friends and acquaintances. Hosting a party is surely very fun and exciting as you get to apply your creativity, taste and styles. People who love hosting parties do not just go for traditional one but instead add a theme to make it more exciting and special. Some of the party themes preferred by hosts are Halloween, black and white, Brazilian, beach and significant years in history like the 70's, 80's and 90's. Setting a 70's theme for your party is a good way to honor a specific decade and giving recognition to the fashion, music and all the things associated to this year.

Music is the easiest part of the plan. Music is an integral part of any party as this determines whether your guests will find your party boring or extravagant. If you plan to have the 1970s theme for your party then the music should be a combination of rock, disco and other fast beat songs of the said decade. It is also ideal and much recommended to use a record player rather than the modern mediums.

Aside from the music, the set of food you choose for your party is also one of the factors that affects or will affect the impressions of the guests. For the food, preparing some menus that were popular way back then is a safe and sound decision. Include on your menu the cheese fondue, tuna - noodle casserole, sour cream dip and potato chips and cocktail dishes like hotdogs, meatballs and cut sandwiches. Make sure that the plating and serving decoration are in line with the 70s theme. Putting the food on bowls and platters with colors popularized on the said specific decade is an excellent option.

Adding some fun games on your party or dinner is also a good option to lighten everything. A trivia game with series of questions about the era is a good starter. Having a 1970s bingo cards is also a good way to have clean fun as you can just award winners with a bags full of candies from the era. Incorporating more challenging games popular in this specific decade like charades, twister and operation is also a dazzling idea to make your all your guests enjoy.

Of course, decorations like the food, music and other gimmicks play a very important role in any type of party. You can include decorations like lava lamps, disco balls and fresh floral displays that were believed to capture the spirit of the decade. You can also check on some suggested floral arrangements from florists online. Start with a sunflower bouquet and an avocado green vase. Flowers like daisies are also one of types that compliments the 70s ambiance. These flowers can be ordered quickly and delivered fresh on the day of your party.

Everything discussed above were just few of the things to remember when hosting a 1970s themed party. However, everything will all be perfect if you ask everyone to be in costume during the night of the party.
