Photo Booths Making A Comeback

By Samantha Breen

In an age when cameras are no longer a luxury item, it may come as a surprise to know that the photo booth is making a comeback. While mobile phones and laptops have their own built-in cameras, and the vast majority of people have one of these, the photographic booth is enjoying a rise in popularity.

People no longer have to send films away for processing, and this makes it even harder to understand why the booth is growing in popularity. People are instantly able to review the images they take on their mobile phone or their digital cameras. They can instantly share these photos with their friends anywhere around the globe by uploading the images to their favourite social network.

There is no need to wait days or weeks for processing companies to return the developed photos. There is no need to fork out extra cash to have films developed on the same day. And gone are the days when processing companies lost the film and left the photographer with no record of the special event.

It is much easier to understand why people would choose to use photo booth at a time when they had to rely on processing services. They were relatively inexpensive to use, and they delivered the images within a few minutes. People needed no photographic skills to use them. They were perfect for getting a few small images that reminded people where they were.

Bearing in mind how easy getting photos is now, it is difficult to see why people would choose a booth. For whatever reason, people seem to think that there is more fun to be had piling into a booth for a photo. Many businesses are capitalizing on this resurgent popularity and hiring out portable booths.

Portable booths are now available, and they function just like the traditional booth. You step into the booth, pose, and get your photo taken. But there are some differences. In the standard static booth, the background choice was limited to either plain white, or the colour of the curtain that could be pulled around. With the new photographic booths, there are other alternatives.

If you decide to rent a booth, you can pick from a number of themes. You might want to opt for a wedding photo booth or choose from other themes. When the photo strips are printed out, each one comes with a message related to the event. You do not have to worry about how the booth operates, because there will be an assistant there to do everything.

You also have the option to have a video message recorded. One of the most popular uses for this facility is when all the guests record their special message to the host on video. All the photos taken can be recorded permanently on to a DVD or a USB stick so that you will have a permanent record of the special occasion. Your rental company will usually be able to provide you with a printed album of the photos as well.

Booths are usually rented out for a specified time period. You will need to check rates with the renter. You may have to pay extra for specific times of the week, such as late evenings or weekends.
