What Native American Organizations Do

In the United States, people who come from different races and have different cultures are abundant. One may notice a person who dress himself in a certain manner which is generally considered odd. He may also speak using a distinct language and may only comprehend a little English. There is a great possibility that this person belongs to a tribe of indigenous people.

Since these individuals have these differences, they are typically targeted for racial discrimination. This is common on places where their population is only below one percent, such as in New York, NY. Because of this, native American organizations NYC are formed that will help them out, especially those kids and teens who are victims of racial discrimination.

These organizations typically conduct trainings and seminars to those who do not belong to any of their tribes. These seminars are geared towards raising the awareness of the cultures that they have and why they dress and talk like they do. The persons who attended these seminars will be able to understand the manner that the indigenous conduct themselves and will surely minimize, and even eliminate racial discrimination.

The elders of these communities usually conduct researches which are aimed to aid the growth of their population culturally. A lot of these researches are being done. The association may do fund raising events such as concerts to be able to have the funds necessary to fund these endeavors.

They usually also provide financial assistance to their kinsmen who are in dire need of something. The individual or a member of his family may be sick and needs medical attention. His house may be burned down by the fire and that he needs financial assistance to be able to build it back up. He may also be needing capital to be able to start a business that could also help their community.

Large numbers of children from these tribes typically do not have sufficient funds to be able to study in school. These kids usually are eager to learn a lot of things. They believe that the knowledge they will have can aid them in boosting their lives and that of their families.

The elderly members of the population may be given health care. The unemployed persons can also be offered a range of jobs. The organization may advise them to go to affiliated agencies to avail of a range of services that provided exclusively to them.

There are certain privileges that should be given to these tribes, according to the law. The organization will ensure that they will be entitled to such privileges. They also ensure that the members can uphold their rights, especially their sovereignty.

There are also a number of these organizations who help with legal matters. There are certain cases where a member of the community may be in conflict with a corporation or an agency of the government with regards to the use of their lands or natural resources. They usually are composed of intellectual indigenous experts who are knowledgeable in this field.
