Bobby Jain & 3 Ways Homeowners Can Have Fewer Regrets

By Robin Setser

According to an article on Yahoo Finance, it seems like one out of every four homeowners would not buy their home again if they had the opportunity to do so. This is eye-opening, to say the least, but not terribly surprising when given the fact that home-owning can be one of the most financially taxing endeavors that anyone can become involved in. However, from what I have seen in the article, the idea of regret is especially prominent against younger homeowners, which Bobby Jain may be able to attest to.

It was mentioned in the report that 28% of homeowners, under the age of 65, regretted buying their houses as opposed to the 14% of senior homeowners. It's easy to see why, as those who buy their homes at younger ages run the risk of making poor financial choices in the long term. However, this does not mean that home-owning has to be a tremendously difficult endeavor, especially when it comes to finances. Here is a list of 3 tips so that people can make home-owning a more effective, as well as economical, process.

1. Rates have to be considered but what exactly does this entail? Bobby Jain may be able to tell you about this, seeing as how housing costs on your end should not go over one-third of your household budget. This is especially true when other factors, including family and electricity, have to be taken into account as well. According to the article, mortgage calculators can allow individuals a better idea of what they need on the financial front and authorities such as Jain can support this.

2. Look for a reputable real estate agent. I stress the "reputable" part because it seems like there are many who simply do not lead people in the right direction as far as shopping for houses is concerned. The best agents, from my perspective, are those who not only listen to the needs of clients but are able to offer a number of choices that suit their needs as well as their budgets. Make it a point to research online if you are concerned about which agents are best.

3. How exactly is the neighborhood that your apparent ideal home is situated within? If you want to know as much as possible, in this regard, take a few moments out of every day in order to travel throughout the area. You are going to want to go during daytime, afternoon, and nighttime so that you can pick up on any noise or traffic that might be viewed as distracting. When it comes to the variables associated with home-owning, this one is usually overlooked the most.
