By Marci Glover

It is almost summer, and more and more people are looking for various ways to beat the extreme heat. People see this as the perfect time to go away to some place cooler or to one that has pristine beaches. Others stay in the safety of their air conditioned homes while slurping cold dessert favorites such as fruit shakes. Others choose to enjoy in fun fiberglass pools and party with peers.

A swimming pool is like a large basin that can hold water where humans dip their bodies in to escape the heat brought about by the season. They come in all kinds and sizes. They can be as small as one made for kids, and they can be as wide as the total square area of a coliseum.

The pool started out as early as 3000 BC. During then, Pakistanis have what they call the Great Bath, a sunken area which is bordered with bricks put together by tar. The Romans and Greeks have more serious reasons for making their own versions. These were used for training by those aspiring to be sailors or to be military men.

The predecessor of the present models people use today started out in Britain in the mid nineteenth century. They were made to ensure safety while swimming. Before the utilization of said amenities, many Britons drowned to death by swimming in a particular river. This river was pretty dangerous due to its strong currents which is why the local government closed it off from the public.

There are varied types of pools. They are made to fit in various specifications. They are made to fulfill different needs. For example, private pools are smaller as compared to the public ones. This is due to the number of people it has to accommodate. Since the private kind is for few people only, they have smaller dimensions.

Children or kiddie kinds most often do not exceed four feet. They are meant for use by children who might drown in a very deep one meant for adults. Exercise pools feature a raging current where people can practice swimming in lieu of seas, rivers, and oceans.

There are also those that are filled with salt water. These are aptly called ocean pools and are usually found facing the sea. There are those that never seem to have a border, and these are known as infinity types. They are usually found in luxurious resorts and hotel towers.

They can also be grouped according to the material that is used in making them. Concrete ones are the ones everyone is so used to swim in. They can be as deep and as wide as you want your pool to be. They are usually used for diving practices and trainings.

There are also new ones that are currently making a huge trend in the market. These pools are made from fiberglass. They are made so by manufacturers to reduce the risk of bruises often sustained by one every time he gets in and out of the water. They are easy to make and install. In fact, you can have your own pool in three days time if you choose to have this one installed.
