Things That Your College Student Ought to Know

By Karen Saber

Here are a few of the way I got through college. I struggled the whole time and my desire is to help you avoid my mistakes.

Keep positive relationships with your friends and your roommate. Do not yell at your roommate and give him some slack. Try to talk it out with him/her whenever there's an issue between you two.

Do not be afraid to take counseling sessions. Let's say that you've broken up with your girlfriend/boyfriend, or you simply have an insomnia. Don't be afraid to visit the counseling center. There is absolutely nothing to be upset of.

Buy a printer. Yes, this is the strange one, but it will certainly save you from a lot of anxiety. Even if I don't normally condone those last-minute assignments, I have no illusions whatsoever that they will take place. That's why it is always a good thing to have a printer around.

Along with having a good study routine, make sure you also go to sleep early, and get up early in the morning. I don't understand why, but my morning study routine has always been more successful than the evening one.

Save as much money as you can. Develop a practice of not squandering your money. Having extra cash stashed away is always a good idea.

Always take notes. Have a separate binder for each class. This will make you organized and you will have that info at your disposal at any time.

Try to be involved in each class.

The first reason I'm telling you this is that the instructor will not forget you. This is particularly crucial in university systems where you have to go through written, in addition to oral exams.

The 2nd reason is that you should always avoid being confused, even if it makes you feel foolish to ask stupid questions in front of other people. You should not be anxious to ask any question to put an end to your confusion.
