Cluttered Home: What It Says About Its Occupants

By Elise Marshall

Clutter isn't a pretty thing to look at. It's messy and it's annoying. It can even drain our energy, or worst, make us feel stressed out.

Yet despite the negative effects of cluttered environment, why is it that more and more people find themselves trapped in this habit.

There are plenty of reasons why homeowners end up having a cluttered abode. One thing's for sure though, a cluttered home could be a reflection of what is going on inside the homeowner's mind.

Personal beliefs, such as how a person feels about change, how a person reacts to changes, and how a person view security, can be a factor on why a homeowner is living in a cluttered home.

For instance, there are parents that still keep clothes of their kids in a pile of boxes even when they're all grown up now. They do this because of the memories that those things hold, though these items can be given away to those who need it.

Other people also do not trust the idea that life will provide them with what they need most of the time. So the tendency is for them to keep buying items whenever they have the opportunity and avoid discarding those which they believe they might need later on. The result is uncontrolled accumulation of things at home.

There are other types of clutter, aside from physical clutter (things that you have). These include relationship clutter (people you spend time with), mind clutter (things you think or believe), body clutter (clutter that accumulates in your body) and time clutter (things that you do).

Remember those friends that cease on being supportive, no matter how wonderful people they are? How about the hobby that drains you of energy instead of giving you the enthusiasm that it once did?

Whether the clutter is tangible or not, it's important to know the signs as early as possible. This will help you deal with this problem properly.

Physical clutter is actually easy to manage. Nowadays, self storage facilities abound to meet the various needs of people. For instance, in Singapore homeowners use Singapore storage space as temporary storage for their personal belongings. Singapore storage companies now offer different sizes and rates for more competitive policies and rates.
