Topics Presented In Environmental Modeling And Software

By Patricia Rogers

Modern day society has become more conscious of their surroundings. As a matter of fact, anything that affects their ecology will eventually impact living things. Specifically, environmental modeling and software address various ecological issues through journals and articles. Precisely, it is a way of creating awareness. The following paragraphs discuss a number of issues that are often discussed.

It is important to watch the well-being of the societies. Many issues affecting surroundings today are the main causes of poor public health. For example, when the air is polluted, human beings end up inhaling toxic gases that expose them to health problems such as respiratory diseases. Therefore, it is important to address these issues for the well-being of people.

Another matter of importance island management as well as urban migration. Traditionally, folks stayed in rural areas because that is where their livelihoods were based. The modern society has changed. As literacy level increases, numerous individuals are shifting to look for white collar jobs. Notably, governments distribute more resources towards developing urban compared to rural areas. As more people move towards the main cities, they become congested. Additionally, more informal setups have risen interrupting normal flow and location of natural resources such as rivers.

As the population continues to rise, so does the amount of trash from households. Every adult generates approximately 4.6 pounds of waste each day. This waste ends up in landfills. When it exceeds what can be sustained by dumpsites, some amount extends water sources and sewerage systems. Polluted water is not a danger to humans alone but to animals living under water.

In underdeveloped nations where the level of poverty is high, the reproduction rate is high. An average family will have more than five children. This has greatly contributed to overpopulation. Natural resources have also been strained. Overpopulation has led to the destruction of the ecological system as people strive to survive. Without proper intervention mechanisms, sustaining human beings will be impossible in the next few decades.

Some human activities have contributed to the extinction of various animals and plants species. A number of them do it unaware or are ignorant of what their actions mean. For example, charcoal burners contribute to deforestation. Some trees that have been cut down may never grow again. To prevent loss of diversity, this problem has to be exposed.

Deforestation leads to exhaustion of water sources. Likewise, poor waste disposal results in water pollution. Living things must learn to protect water sources. Individuals who cut trees must be informed on their contribution to the scarcity of water. Similarly, proper trash disposal mechanisms should be put in place to reduce the amount spilling to water sources.

Governments have raised concern over a rising tree cutting culture. There has been a significant rise in deforestation as individuals create spaces to occupy. Rains have reduced as a result of deforestation. Loss of particular animal species has happened as their habitats get ruined.
