The Things To Know Concerning Land Clearing Houston

By Joshua Wood

Land clearance basically describes the act of getting rid of all vegetation cover on a particular area or terrain. Terrain clearing is generally used to clear mostly untouched terrains that were initially habitat for fauna as well as flora. This practice is today being discouraged due to its negative impact. Land clearing Houston is causing more harm than good.

It is estimated that 70% of Houston, TX city has been cleared and construction taken place. There is significant impact on the environment brought about by land clearing. Large scale or small scale clearance basically has an impact on surrounding environment. There are irreversible effects to the terrain when extensive clearance is done.

It is also true that minimal clearance of terrains can have manageable effects since the impact can easily be reversed. Where the real threat lies is in the case of intensive clearance. The threat to environment usually lies with irreversible clearance which has the ability to destroy or damage an entire ecosystem definitely causing a lot of environmental threats.

Some of the known environmental threats brought about by clearance of terrains includes, emissions from green house, a significant rise or increase in soil salinity or acidity, natural habitats especially for animals is destroyed, decrease or probably extinction or disappearance of indigenous fauna and flora and lastly increased soil erosion.

These early governments did not worry too much about deforestation and its impacts on soil and animals. By cutting down vegetation and trees, some animals are forced to live among humans while others are forced to move deeper into the forest. There are some animals that become rare or extinct because of deforestation. The reason why people cultivate such terrains is to make crop fields out of them.

Salinity is basically rising of underground salt to surface of the soil or ground simply by through groundwater. When plants and trees are uprooted, their roots are also uprooted making the soil loose and groundwater eventually rising. The root system of these plants and trees are mainly responsible for low levels of groundwater.

As land increased in value, the population of people increased as well as making it scare resource or obviously very expensive. Terrain cultivation was also very beneficial economic wise as it increased food production and created job opportunities. Several years ago, this clearing was actually considered very beneficial to some states and also very progressive.

The emission that come from greenhouse gases can easily occur when basically logs and trees are just left after being cut or felled. As these debris rots, it releases some greenhouse gasses which is believed to be quite harmful to Ozone layer. People and especially farmers and investors are encouraged to only carry out small scale clearing.

The practice has its own advantages and also disadvantages. But before cutting down any tree, first think about it impact of effect on the environment and animals depending on that tree. For every one tree cut, two trees should be planted.
