Becoming a train driver in any country is normally a lengthy process that is also very challenging. The vacancies are also rare and if they arise, the applicants are numerous. This is expected as the benefits that come with the profession are good. The salary is very high, there is job security, and the working conditions are also very good. When the vacancy arises, you need to apply for the position. The other important aspect is to prepare for the interview. There is no uniform way as every company may do it in their own way. However, you need to understand the traits that the interview panel is looking for. This includes safety consciousness, high level of concentration, alertness, quick reaction skills, and safety critical communication among others.

The last stage involves a background check where an applicant can be dismissed in the case of a criminal record. In addition to this, the drug screening test is also done. Lastly, physical fitness check is also done to weed out those who may not cope with the job condition.

This is a very competitive position and having money as your main motivation may lead you to a career that is not as fulfilling as you thought. You need to be passionate about traveling and enjoy seeing the countryside and make it a hobby and not just a career.
