Discover The Polite Behavior In America That You Should Have

By Leslie Ball

Politeness or courteous manners is something that Americans hold dearly into their hearts and minds, and practice it in the most perfect way possible. Being courteous or well-mannered means that you are respectful to others and that you mind their feelings more than you mind about yours. Many people do not know that the small actions they do to others matters most to them. Most of the people with polite behavior in America have no problem associating with people of different social status.

If you are keen to note how most Americans behave, you will find that they follow the politeness guidelines that they were in schools and at home by their parents and guardians. For this reason, most of them will have easier time when interacting with their family members, work colleagues, friends and customers in their businesses. You need to know that your well-mannered actions will determine how long you maintain clients in your business.

There are many ways that you can prove to the society that someone is courteous. One of them is when you say hello to a group of people on the way. Greeting people with bright smiles will earn you respect. Depending on how you relate with people it is important that you maintain a good eye contact as well as shake the hands firmly. At times you may hug them; it shows compassion to your members in the society.

Once you meet people, you should avoid talking too much about you and instead listen to them as they talk. Many people make mistakes of greeting people and even before they have responded to them, they have begun telling them more about what they do and where they come from. This makes the people you meet feel inferior about themselves especially if all that you do is praising yourself.

When you use courteous words, for instance, thank you is imperative. When someone does something that for you, it is important that you appreciate. In fact, the act of acknowledging someone does not cost you anything. However, it will earn you respect in the community.

Showing appreciation for the achievements or actions of others is another good behavior especially in the American states. You should always be ready to congratulate anyone who succeeds in anything be it in education or at your workplace. Always share a few words to appreciate whatever that person has done even if they have succeeded more than you.

You will also notice Americans are respectful in their workplaces in terms of treating their bosses and subordinate members with the respect they deserve. They highly acknowledge the both the senior and junior positions that their fellow workmates hold there. They also respect the duties and roles that others play in the work organizations and companies.

Finally, you will observe the Americans and notice that they immediately apologize for their mistakes. More than this, they will also apologize for your mistakes as well. You will not find them defending the mistakes they committed but will quickly acknowledge them and apologize. If you wrong them, they will feel sorry about it even before you have apologized. This is the culture you should cultivate in your children, family members, friends and in you as well.
