Gaining Self Confidence To Be Successful In Anything

By Chelsea Grace

Where does self confidence come from? How can we get it? Why don't I have it? The answer to all these questions will be answered with one word you! Self confidence starts with you, your perception of yourself, and what other people think about your actions or behaviour.

For many of us, a lack of self confidence only has an impact on our high ambitions. You may have always wished to get up on stage, or to be a pro vocalist or actor for example. Maybe your life dream is to travel worldwide, visit different countries or cities, but you don't have the self confidence to do it. For others, the problem of self confidence is much nearer to home - at the office, business conferences, public presenting events or shows.

Self confidence issues affect most of us at one point, and we can usually find methods of getting around the problem. Avoidance is one method we frequently use - if we can get out of an intimidating situation we will make up excuses not to take part. Nevertheless there are occasions when we won't get out of it, or we really don't want to. If an absence of self confidence is excluding you from doing giving something new a go, or from succeeding in your working life, it's time to handle it.

The starting point in improving your self confidence is understanding what causes the problem. Low self worth, not believing in yourself or your capability, feeling inadequate compared to your associates or mates or perhaps a kind of shock from your youth are all contributory elements. By examining the reasons for your low self confidence, you are halfway there!

Taking positive action to triumph over your fears is the next step to help increase your self confidence. A straightforward way to try this is by taking on little challenges. You have permitted your cortex to associate certain events or actions with fear, so you've already pre-empted the outcome of these scenarios. By taking a little step towards conquering this, you will find that the result is most probably not as nasty as you think in fact , you can potentially be surprised about how good you feel and your self confidence will instantly increase.

When you have completed your first tiny challenge, congratulate yourself on achieving your aim. A tiny reward can frequently help. You're already on the right path to improving your self confidence, so you are prepared to take it to the next higher level. This needn't be a huge task; you don't want to undo all the excellent work. Building up your self confidence needs time, and while you may wish to jump ahead, it can be a brilliant idea to take things slow initially. Continuously increase the hazards you are taking to get your self confidence to where you want to be. Risk taking does not, naturally, mean jumping off a bridge, but the accepted chance of something going down as a result of your actions is generally the biggest obstruction with self confidence.

Self confidence problems are common for most folks, and there are glorious resources to be taught how to cope with these issues, but if you do have serious difficulty facing certain circumstances you must seek professional help.
