Any type of trauma can be difficult to deal with. Sometimes you would have been exposed to death or you may have been involved in a serious car accident or a burglary. Sometimes you can benefit from working in a more practical way. This comes in the form of creative tasks, such as writing, poetry, drawing and other artistic projects. It helps the client to get a lot off their chest in a non-verbal way. It is important to include this into the daily routine. It can be just as effective as talking about the ordeal.

There are different types of therapy programs that patients can benefit from. Besides something that is more private, some patients prefer working in groups. This may be something to think about as the patient starts to become more confident. It is a good idea to talk to others who are in a similar situation because you will begin to identify with them.
