Significance Of Conserving And Protecting Natural Resources

By Dennis Brooks

Limitation in existing renewable materials and physical feature that existing naturally by themselves without man intervention in nature calls for careful utilization and managed use of them. Natural resources usage rate has to be controlled to be in proximity with their rate of formation by free existing nature forces. Failure to do this may result in catastrophic extinction and extreme challenges to generations of the future. The following are core motivations for participating in conserving and protecting natural resources.

So as to facilitate prolonged production of fuel and power. The industrial production process cannot be performed without power. It must be adequate to support the processes or else economic growth cannot be realized. Power from natural gas, crude oil, sunlight, wood, dams, rivers, and coals are required to support human life in warming, lighting and cooking meals. To facilitate continued supply of this basic life supply, responsible and controlled use of resources must be adopted.

They act as water catchment areas. Water is life. Without it, life on earth would not exist. Trees and forests act as origins of rivers from small streams that join up to form big massive rivers. Also through transpiration, trees contribute heavily to the formation of rainfall that eventually falls the ground and is stored in lakes and oceans through runoff.

For food supply maintenance for both humankind and animals of the wild. Animals feed on free growing vegetation that is found on the fertile soils on the earth surface. Humans plant, weed, tend and harvest crops in grounds that are fertile of simply slaughter and animal for the meat. Where there is no food, alternative supply must be sort or hunger-related loss of life cannot be stopped.

For purposes of employment creation. The existence of resources creates opportunities for self-employment. This eliminates excessive reliance of citizens to the government and reduces the rate of crime. Charcoal burning, mining, forest guards and conservation workers are just but a few of employment opportunities created by the presence of resources. Employment opportunities allow people to earn income to support them and their families.

Global warming and air pollution prevention. Cutting down trees and clearing fields to give room for farming practices leaves the land bare. This makes soil prone to erosion from wind leading to air pollution. Furthermore, plants recycle air by using carbon IV gas and releasing oxygen to the atmosphere. Also, when land is bare, the protective black that prevents harmful sun rays is destroyed causing the rise in atmospheric temperature.

To preserve attraction sites for tourist. Natural resources act as sites of tourist destination who seek to experience and explore the beauty and fauna in these areas. Through tourism, international integration and cooperation between nations are achieved as a result of community interaction with visitors. This results in the realization of worldwide peace and gives an opportunity for local communities to market their culture. They are a source of foreign exchange. For a country to strengthen its currency in the international market, then it must obtain foreign currency through trade. Crude oil, wood, and natural gas when exploited are usually exported to different countries through trade agreements in exchange for foreign currency.

They are home to the countries exotic wild animals. Some of these animals are near extinction, and they need a haven if they are to survive. Thus, there is no choice but to conduct conservation of animals from the stakeholders involved.
