Generally, environmental protection refers to the practice of protecting any natural environment at an individual, organizational or governmental level so that humans and the environment itself can benefit. As a result of pressure from overconsumption, growth in population as well as technology, there has been a continued degradation of the biophysical environment even to permanent levels. Nevertheless, these adverse effects have been noted and has encouraged the development of the Environmental Conservation Foundation.

Such foundations have been in existence for a number of years and their motives being to defend the conservation of biodiversity. Additionally, the government via such foundations is able to implement limits to the actions that are consequence of degradation of our environment. Awareness creation on the issues touching on the environment remains crucial. It is for this reason that such support is initiate to create and implement sensitization programs.

Individuals, governments, and organizations in many circumstances never reach a consensus on what should be classified as environmental degradation, and how human activities have affected the natural environment. The extent to which degradation has occurred however seems practical or even felt like in the case of decertification and global warming. Such effects can only be prevented through initiatives where individuals directly take part in the activities offered by ecological protection agencies or foundations.

First, one can be involved through a voluntary agreement. This gives a platform where organizations that observe the minimum environmental regulation standards receive rewards for supporting and developing best practices pertaining to conservation. Such agreements usually remedy some substantial amount of non-compliance or non-adherence to regulations. Nevertheless, this remains challenging for monitoring and reporting the environment conserving efforts becomes difficult.

The other way is through the ecosystems approach. This is an integrated approach to managing the environment rather than targeting just specific challenges or issues. This approach additionally engages different stakeholders drawn from the conservation foundations, the government and other relevant institutions in decision making.

These environmental conservation and protection efforts can also be addressed through international ecological treaties. These treaties are meant to help protect vulnerable resources from destruction by man. To that effect, many countries and states do sign treaties aimed at reducing or preventing further damages on the environment. Such treaties mainly touch on the protection of lakes, rivers, oceans or air. Since they are legally binding, such treaties have penalties to countries that failure to comply.

In many occasions, discussions on conserving environment places focus on the initiatives by a government and its legislations. Nevertheless, in a much wider sense, offering protection remains the responsibility of all persons and not solely the government. Generally, decisions bearing an impact to the environment are usually made by different stakeholders like indigenous groups or community representatives.

Ideally, environmental protection is not and should not neglected to the government organizations. Many persons tend to think of such organizations and individuals that work closely with them to be the ones to create and maintain the benchmark standards. Any willing person can, however, aim at starting up an ecological foundation to aid in the conservation efforts.
