Different Techniques Of Land Clearing Houston

By Betty Murray

Land clearing involves more than just the removal of trees and other forms of vegetation in a given area to pave way for other uses. Because of the increased regulations on the activity, the technique must be done responsibly and will involve removal of obstacles like stumps, trees and bushes. Stones may also be included in removal. When it comes to land clearing Houston residents should consider various factors.

The fact that clearance of land needs some kind of equipment means one must obtain the right tools. This is the only way the job will be efficiently done. Each equipment should be studies before being used so that you know how to use them. It will prevent accidents during use. Those without the right tools or do not know how to use them may have to hire professionals.

The property to be cleared will need to be surveyed first. The survey helps to know the types of vegetation present. There are trees with more value than others. In case the trees to be cleared have a lot of value, they can be sold for income. When one hires a company to do the clearing without knowing the values of various trees, they are likely to lose potential income. The survey comes at an extra cost but may be worth it.

The authorities have to be contacted before clearing land. This is because there are properties whose owners are not allowed to clear without getting permits. Clearing such land without permits would get you into trouble with the law. In the case of property owners looking to do clearance individually, they should follow a systematic approach, with trees cut in an organized way.

There are various methods of clearance. There is the cut and grind method which starts with cutting of trees. In most cases, the trees will be moved into a processing location. The stumps are however left behind in the ground and will be ground into mulching material. Other than that, the stumps may be pulled out using construction machinery.

In the past, burning land was one of the most common techniques used. It was however associated with many cases of fire outbreaks and has thus been outlawed in many places. People who are not able to hire excavating companies can consider use of the backhoe. It needs to have a front end loader together with a fork and rake. The fork is used for transport, the rake to clear small objects and the loader to dig. When using the rake, one should be cautious not to destroy the soil.

Mulching is considered as the best alternative to the traditional land clearing methods. It is easier, cheaper and faster. It also does not create large piles of refuse. Even more importantly, it does not involve chemical use and does not cause destruction to top soil.

Newer designs of mulching machinery do not put too much pressure on the soil. Rather than disturb soil, they enrich it using mulch that results from chipping up stumps and trees. It is a popular technique.
