Using A Washington Speakers Bureau For Informed Attendees

By Della Monroe

Every event that you plan, whether it is the announcement of a new product line, presentation of awards or simply a seminar for the furtherance of company culture, you need a speaker. This speaker will have to have a handle on the information and be able to present it in an understandable way. If you do not have someone in your organization to do this, a Washington speakers bureau is your best choice, in Washington, DC.

What you are going to need, when planning an event such as this, is someone who can incorporate all of the information, concepts and or ideas that you want to have them promote. This will then have to be prepared and presented in such a way as to be meaningful to the attendees. Each person, speaking before your group, must be able to be non offensive, articulate and completely understandable.

One of the things that you will always be able to find, in the Nations Capital, is speakers. They come from both sides of the aisle, in Congress. Many of them will hire themselves out, individually, and others will sign on with a speakers bureau. The bureau, in these cases, check out the qualifications and background as well as set the price for each person they represent.

The first time you contact the bureau, you will be asked if you have a name of someone you would like to show up and work with you. If you do not, you will then be asked about the subject or subjects he or she will need to address. They will work to find someone that has a good reputation in this area. An open mind, on your part may result in an unexpected and pleasant surprise.

Lobbyists may be the best ones to get for your event. They are always available because there are so many of them in DC. The prices charged for speakers will depend on their popularity, their skills at presentation and date and time of that event. Many of the politicians come cheap.

One of the things you will find, in Washington, DC, is that most of these speakers will have a political leaning that may go against your own personal one. This is not necessarily a bad thing as facts are facts. If the speaker sticks with facts, without prejudice, they should be able to inform your event goers with what is needed.

A very important element of deciding which person is the right one for your event is to watch and hear a person under consideration at another event. This will help you understand what they can do and what areas they can address, authoritatively. Check out their background and know about them, before you bring them to your venue.

Some of these speakers bureaus concentrate on political subjects. Some of them specialize on commercial, business matters. There are still others that deal primarily with self improvement speakers. Finding the right ones will help in your search and, ultimately a great event.
