How Epoxy Floor Coating Must Be Applied

Most homeowners want all parts of their houses to be attractive, from the top to the bottom. They typically buy ornaments to decorate the interiors. They also engage landscaping services to beautify the exteriors.

They are also utilizing paints, as well. The paints will be adding beauty to their residences, especially on the walls and the floors. For the latter, they are typically purchasing Ohio epoxy floor coating. An owner should be following these steps for him to be effectively applying the sealer on his floor.

The market is selling different epoxies, depending on their manufacturers. However, a product is usually containing three ingredients that are the pigment, catalyst and resin. He should be checking on the prices and buying one that he could afford. He should also be identifying how much epoxy he will be needing for his project.

The coatings already present on these surfaces should be determined first by the individuals. Coatings of certain types are not good substrates for the products. Tests can be done for previous coatings to be determined. One part muriatic acid mixed with four parts water can be used for the tests. These mixtures can be dripped to various areas. Coatings are not present if there are yellow stains.

He should also be looking for grease or oil stains. The stains could be coming from his automobile, among others. He should be removing the stains prior to the application of the sealer. He could be utilizing an industrial degreaser for their removal. He should also be looking for and removing tire residue. He might have to be sanding or grounding them off.

The homeowners should then need to etch the floors with masonry cleaners. Most kits from hardware stores will have these cleaners with them and the persons should follow the directions for their use. They may have to utilize brushes for this matter. These processes are important so that the pores of the concrete will open up and the paints will stick to them properly.

With the help of garden hoses, they should wet the surfaces and make them moist. Afterwards, they should pour the same acid and water solutions evenly to them. They should scrub the areas until they get foamy reactions from them. Once they complete the entire floors, they should rinse them well and broom out excess water.

The owner should be letting the area dry completely. He should be allocating a week to ten days in this case. This way, he could see to it that moisture will not be existing in the site. A wet surface will be repelling the paint, resulting to imperfections. In testing its dryness, the person could be placing a vinyl tile overnight and checking for dark appearances on it the next morning. A dark appearance is indicating the existence of moisture.

Once the floor is dry, the homeowner could be applying the sealer on it. He should be following the instructions of its use which he will be finding on the label of the commodity. He could also be designing the area if he likes to. After finishing his project, he should be disposing properly all used materials. He should be letting the place sit until it is dry.
