By Kerri Stout

A permanent employment position is among one of the many things that human beings regard as important. Without a regular paycheck that employment usually comes with, people will have great difficulties regarding their needs and wants. After all, even though money does not buy everything, but all the material things that man needs for him to survive have their own monetary equivalent.

Because of all the needs and wants that human beings have, it essential that everyone manages to land in a good job and keep at it for quite some time. Employment is a two way street, which is why most companies hire contractors who have already taken the California contractor license exam to add to the number of manpower. In turn, these workers receive monetary compensation for a job well done.

Independent contractors pertain to people, businesses, or corporations that is integral in the provision of the needed good and services for the operations to run really well. They are no way similar to the regular employees that one hires under one wing. They do work that are almost always specified in a written contract or a verbal agreement.

But, before they are hired to do all the freelance work they can, most companies make sure that the independent workers they get are all license holders. This is a standard operating procedure every company must do in order to prevent brush ups with the law. Although unlicensed contractors can be entrusted with low budget construction projects, corporations often stay on the safe side and receive only the authorized ones.

First time offenses often land you in jail with a potential sentence of up to six months and a five hundred dollar fine. It may also come along with a potential administrative fine of two hundred to fifteen thousand dollars. When convicted for a second time, one has to pay a fine of twenty percent of the total contract price. One can also be confined for no less than ninety days.

Of course, before one can obtain a license he can proudly call his own, he has to be able to comply to qualifications set by the board. First off, he must at least be eighteen years of age. He should also possess all the necessary skills that will help him out a lot when he is tasked to manage a construction project on his own.

There are also certain cases where the licensing board will allow the applicant to bring along somebody else. This third person is more commonly known as the qualifying individual. To qualify as an able representation, the third individual must have at least four years of experience doing certain functions.

After all of these, you can finally submit the completed forms. The board will then reply with a notice to attend when they have successfully received and accepted your application. All you have to do now is to appear at the testing area in the correct date and time.

During the test, applicants are given more than three hours. If you do not arrive on time, your chance will be given to another. Test results will also be announced in a few hours after the exam.
