Learning More About The Best Brainfood

By Ryan Scott

When you are eating every day, it is important to know what is on your plate, and how you are benefiting from your meal. Brainfood may have sounded like just another trend or fad in the past. However, scientists have been doing a lot of research as of late and have proven much about their findings. There is a lot one can say about the food you eat and how it affects your brain.

People who are involved in neuroscience encourage those who are suffering with Alzheimer's disease to eat foods that help the memory function a little better. There are also foods which will improve cognitive abilities. Of course, this is not going to cure the disorder, but many patients have seen improvements. People are also encouraged to eat foods like this early on in life.

Blueberries are great to snack on. This is good for short term memory loss. Besides blueberries, you can also turn to tomatoes. Both of these you can just store in the refrigerator. You can also use these ingredients in your cooking in different ways, so they become more than just a snack. There are so many varieties available and it means your cooking becomes a lot healthier.

Besides the cognitive functions and the memory abilities, you will also find that there are foods that help improve the levels of serotonin. This will help your state of mind. Serotonin is needed to eradicate any feelings of depression. For this, one needs to eat things like walnuts and celery. These foods are also good for other functions as well.

There are a lot of seeds that can spice up a meal, and at the same time they can add to the healthy side of things. For example, pumpkin seeds have been proven to do a lot for the cognitive abilities as well. They help the mental process, and give you the ability to think, while increasing serotonin levels at the same time. The zinc, magnesium, and vitamins help with this.

A lot of people still love their white bread, but it is something to be avoided because there are not a lot of nutrients that you will find in the white flour. It is a good idea to adjust to whole grains that you find in whole wheat flour. This will help the concentration levels improve. Whole grains are low in the GI scale and won't promote a rapid release of glucose.

Have your stash of nuts wherever you go. This will make a difference to your day at home as well as in the work place. They are tasty and nutritious. You can have them as a snack and you can combine them in the meal. Something like walnuts, for example will also contribute to the brain with the Vitamin E that they contain. This will help the cognitive abilities from declining at a steady rate.

There are a range of spices that can do a lot of good for your body. Each one provides you with something different. For example, turmeric is known to help reduce any inflammation in the brain. These spices have a very high reputation and go many years back. In fact, some reports say that they go thousands of years back. Things like Cinnamon and Coriander as well as many others all have special properties.
