Increase Saving With Energy Efficient Lighting

By Phyllis Schroeder

Saving can be achieve by putting money aside like putting it to a deposit account, a pension account, investment fund, or as cash. This would also include reducing expenditures, such as recurring costs. Like make a budget list of what you are going to buy in the market.

New technologies are being created to help out the environment at the same time affordable to the masses. You can start this by using energy efficient lighting. These type of lighting is very efficient and cost effective. By using these, it would help you with your saving at the same time it lets you help the environment. It is like hitting two birds with one stone.

Most of the inefficient types of lighting are being phased out like the incandescent lights. Types of efficient ones are available in the market, as mentioned above, including compact fluorescent lamps, light emitting diodes, and fluorescent lights. But if you want to have the most efficient of these options, then choose the CFLs and good quality LEDs.

By implementing less energy consumption, you can begin with renovating or enhancing some parts of your house or room. Like using or manipulating sunlight to brighten up your room. Putting bigger windows in the kitchen and living room would make it brighter. You can also install a skylight, in that way no need to turn on your lights once you wake up. Another method is using solar powered lamps. Although these are not common but are effective.

Fluorescent are very energy efficient. They can use 80 percent less power and can last 4 to 10 times. They are highly recommended for areas that required long periods of time, such as the kitchen or living room. This is suitable for houses that are in the tropical area and for offices that operates day and night. Compact fluorescent lamps or CFLs can be used in most light fittings, and will provide you with energy efficient lamps that is comfortable for your eyes. These are cheaper and much more efficient to use. You can choose CFLs in a variety of shapes and sizes, and in different color temperatures. Fluorescent tubes or tubular lamps, on the other hand, are available in a straight or rounded style. They much more inexpensive compared to CFLs and ideal for kitchens, garages, and workshops.

For the light emitting diode or LEDs are types of solid state bulbs which some prefers. There are semiconductors that convert currents into light, it emits light just the same. Although these were once commonly used as indicator and traffic lights, it has evolved into one of the most electrical current efficient bulbs. It uses only 20 to 25 percent of power and would last up to 25 times longer than the traditional bulbs.

Another cost efficient is the halogen lighting. Used as downlights or reflector lamps. Lower voltage does not make it more energy efficient or more cost effective but you need to choose low wattage globes to make savings.

Now with compact fluorescent lamps or CFLs, these also uses less energy. It can reduce electricity consumption for about 80 percent once used. Its commonly seen as a curly type of long tube fluorescent. This is affordable compared to the LEDs. Also its brightness is very pleasing to the eyes. Same with LEDs, it has a lot of variety when it comes to shapes and color.

Use of natural lights is also part of these cost effective lighting. Like using natural light through windows, skylights, solar power tubes which capture daylight and put it into a dark corner of your house could help out brighten up the house thus help lessen the consumption. Thus helping you increase more saving.
