Throw N Go Berm Ease And Convenience

By Christa Jarvis

Containing any spills is a prime concern for a great many workplaces, especially those who handle materials that may be deemed as hazardous. A number of specialized product have been designed for the purpose of creating barriers that prevent such substances from becoming contaminants or spreading beyond their boundaries. A Throw N Go berm is perfectly suited for this function.

There are many reasons why products of this sort may be necessary. They prevent potentially toxic materials that may leak from containers, from mixing together, resulting in disastrous interactions. They are also very effective at keeping any spills from spreading and substances like oil, gasoline and acids from seeping into the ground and contaminating the soil.

Not only do these type of products keep the environment safe, they also serve as protection for equipment and employees. This particular style is considered to be one of the quickest and easiest to use. They are completely portable, require no assembly at all, are very durable and resistant against most any substance, and can be deployed and ready to use in a matter of just a few minutes.

A heavy duty style of 30oz fabric that is able to handle most any chemical or hydrocarbon as easy as it does water is used in the construction of these products. They are made in compliance with all US standard requirements. The durable material also renders the barriers resistant to damages such as rips, tears and punctures from abrasive or pointed items on the ground.

To set the product up in the intended space, it is just a simple matter of unfolding the bundle and spreading it out completely, which takes little more than a minute. Once done, vehicles can simply drive over the sides, which lay flat until needed, or containers may be situated inside the enclosed area. Deployment is easy since there are no hinges or rigid parts to check or hassle with.

Several accessory pieces may be used in conjunction with the barriers for added protection and easier clean up. Once such item is a ground mat, or tarp, which are especially useful when the berms are intended to be deployed over dirt or gravel. Track mats are an addition that is strongly recommended for situations in which the walls will be run over by vehicles on a frequent basis, as they will prevent excessive wear and tear on the construction material.

The walls of the barriers will remain flattened unless they come in contact with a fluid substance. When that material is present, the sides create a catch basin by inflating to rise high enough to keep everything inside the designated area. A 3/4 inch drain is used to empty out the product in order that they may be dried, cleaned, flattened, folded and prepared for their next deployment.

Versatility is another attractive factor to this type of containment product. They are available in a wide variety of square or rectangular sizes which are capable of holding anywhere from 206 to 5805 gallons, depending on style. Their portability and ease of deployment, make this a very popular choice for many workplaces who deal with the risk of contamination from leaks and spills.
