Safe Raccoon Removal From Your Yard

By Jocelyn Davidson

One of the cutest but most mischievous pests to make a mess in your yard and trash would be Raccoons. You would think that they would be good as pets, but some people would irresponsibly release them to the wild in an unconsulted manner which would be one of the causes for them to go rampant in an area.

Raccoons were basically introduced to Russia and other European countries like France and Germany, originally for their fur. Now they have come out of hand, especially in Rolling Hills, California. The usual in raccoon removal Rolling Hills can be done either by you or by the local wildlife or animal control.

There are pest control agencies that offer an alarm system for distributing sound waves that are audible to certain animals. Infrared motion detector is used to set off the alarm and a frequency range from 14 to 25 MHz would be released. Although this way is not entirely practical in a financial aspect.

Cleaning food bits in your yard would be a great option. Not giving them a reason to lounge anywhere in your yard and removing even bits of pet food would be entirely effective. This is what you need to make sure of.

Securing your food wastes inside your trash can would be one way to prevent them from accessing it. Placing a heavy rock or brick on the lid could work as well. Bagging the waste twice would prevent it from letting the smell of food going out, and even if they do get to smell it, they still cannot open it.

Keeping all doors, including pet doors, and windows properly locked would prevent them from getting in, naturally. Regardless of their attempts, it would soon discourage them. Trimming branches that go near your attic also prevents them from living there. If they have already been living there, you are in for a great surprise.

If you do find out that they are now living in the attic, don't force the out by yourself, especially when mating season has already passed and they have little raccoons born there. They could be very aggressive and you need to reach animal control for this sort of situation.

Another thing you can do is mix in some spices to turn into a spray. Finely slice up some Jalape's along with yellow onion and cayenne powder. Boil them with 7 cups of water and strain them into a bottle spray. You can also try any super spicy sauce like Tabasco and mixed with detergent soap and a gallon of water. Apply these on your fences or plants to prevent them even going near your yard.

Second to the last resort would be setting traps. Although legality would vary from state to state, it is best to find out first, and only do this with raccoons that are basically out of control and you have already tried the above steps. But even though all of these still have not worked, contact your local wildlife and animal control for best measures.
