The West Coast of New Zealand: A Fun Filled Destination for Vacationers

The West Coast region of New Zealand is a beautiful oceanic destination that vacationers will love. If you don't know where it is, New Zealand is about 900 miles east of Australia.It is only one of the Pacific Islands that is situated within the Oceania cluster of island.The country of New Zealand consists of two islands which as named the North Island and the South Island.Situated on the South Island, the West Coast is one of the 16 regions that make up New Zealand.This little country is a wonderful place to take a scenic vacation because of its beautiful mountains and rugged coastline.

The Western Coast has 140 glaciers, but the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers are two of the most popular.You can take varied routes in order to view the glaciers.You can either take a guided walking tour to see them, a helicopter ride or even trek to climb portions of them.The choice is yours.With whatever option you choose, you will have a very memorable time.It is said that the township of Fox Glacier is much quieter than that of Franz Josef.However, both are known to be very entertaining once you get there.

The West Coast region is so beautiful that you don't have to be doing anything spectacular to enjoy the hokitika accommodation.You are not required to surf, hunt, fish or climb mountains.But, on the other hand, these are usually activities that are reserved for adrenaline junkies.

But, if you want a vacation that is a little less adventurous, then opt for one of the many track walks that the region has to offer.The duration for these walks can be anywhere from ten minutes to five full days.Research the country's Department of Conservation for a list of organized walks that are available.You can find out how long the walks are and their difficulty level.This is good information to have if there are children or elderly people traveling with you.

If slow walking trails are not your thing, then the West Coast regions has many thrill seeking activities for you to enjoy.You can easiy book tours for rock climbing, cave rafting or other activities that will get your blood pumping.Pararoa National Park has magnificent caves to explore and canyons to see.

With all of the tourists that flock to the area each year, there has to be a good selection of lodging choices.As a matter of fact, there are places to stay such as bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, cheap hotels, ritzy hotels and even places where backpackers can lay their head.So if you are heading over to the Hokitika Wild Food Festival, you will see a lot of hokitika motels options.You will have your choice of various Hokitika motels, whether they are cheap or fancy. No matter what type of accommodations that you pick, it is possible to find ones that are clean and affordable.

In conclusion, the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island is filled with beautiful scenery and plenty of activities for vacationers.The area has a different geography that makes it ideal for vacationers who want to experience something a little different.
