By Sally Delacruz

People just love celebrations. Whether it is an excuse to drink or just for you to take a day off from work, it does not matter. The festivities are what is important. Nowadays, you can even see weird national holidays on the calendar just to accommodate people's love for a day off. Here are some of the peculiar rest days that are known around the world.

The Port of Calama, back then, is the last ocean-front property that the Bolivians have so losing it to the Chilean forces actually made a great impact on the country.

The Korean Alphabet Day is next. This is the event that Korean's host in honor of their comprehensive alphabet. As all people know, the Koreans have lots of letters included in their alphabet. Their alphabet allows them to have proper communication with each other and even with the world. It is a celebration that is worth the festivities.

National Punctuation Day. The Korean Alphabet Day might be an ideal celebration for writers but there is one more. For the Americans, the Punctuation Day is definitely their fun alternative. During this day, everyone is encouraged to read newspapers, store signs, and other materials to find punctuation errors.

NATIONAL WEATHERPERSON'S DAY. Most people love weatherpersons because the latter have impeccable speech. Not only that, they bring you the weather forecasts that will help you go through your entire day without any problems. These people also have a day for their own to celebrate. If you are a weatherperson, then you can get this day all on your own.

There is the Bermuda Day too. The tropical islands are some of the places on the world where people do not really pay too much attention to weather forecast. However, it is only natural for them to be aware of when it is appropriate for them to change out of their winter clothes and start wearing summer outfits. The Bermuda Day is meant just for the people to know whether it is already fine for them to wear their summer uniforms to school or to work.

Blessed Rain Day. When living in countries that are always ravaged by monsoons, having a day that celebrates when weather phenomena stop is worth celebrating. In Bhutan, you get to celebrate this rest day by outdoor bathing. The mythically purified natural waters are what you will use for this.

MELON DAY. It might not make sense to some but there is actually a country that celebrates the creation of the popular crossbreed of muskmelons. In Turkmenistan, you get the day off during August 12 because you need to join in the festivities for the celebration of Turkmenbashi melons and muskmelons in general.

Picnic Day is a day for those living in Northern Australia. When this day comes, you can just go to the Adelaide River. You will usually have to go there on the first Monday of August and participate in the three-day event. The festivity of the said day should allow you to bond together with the entire family.
